Training workshops

The Dulwich Centre Foundation offers training to individual workers, organisations, and communities interested in responding to significant issues associated with mental health and trauma.

Our team of experienced local staff and international consultants offer tailored training to workers in both Australia and around the world. Specifically, our training focuses on:

  • narrative responses to trauma: counselling and community work approaches

  • ways to link communities around shared concerns, and how to create local, national, and international networks of support

  • the practice of ‘double-listening’: listening for not only the effects of the trauma, but how people have responded to it, how they did this, and what this means for future action

  • how to document these responses, and how to circulate these documents in ways that will be not only sustaining, but generative of further initiatives

  • how to strengthen stories of resistance, healing, and reclamation

  • how to work with vulnerable children and young people who have been exposed to extreme trauma

  • how workers can sustain themselves when working in contexts of extreme trauma and despair.

We have offered training in as diverse contexts as postgraduate-level university courses, to remote Indigenous communities in Australia, to the sites of destruction in the wake of war and natural disasters.

To date, we have run training in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Israel, Palestinian Territories, Kuwait, Singapore, Bangladesh, USA, India, East Timor, and Russia.
