A song for Australia
by david denborough

This is a song for Australia
A land of sweeping plains
Of rugged mountain ranges
Of droughts and flooding rains

This is a song for our young people
Whose lives were lost in flames
For grieving friends and families
Nothing will ever be the same

There are ceremonies in the surf these days
We’re wearing wattle on our clothes
Bali’s not only a destination
Now a final resting place as well

And where oh where
Do we go now?
Do we send our young men off to war now?
Where oh where do we go now?
Do we follow a big brother to war now?
Or do we find our own way?

This is a song for Australia
A land of sweeping plains
Of rugged mountain ranges
Of droughts and flooding rains

There are shrines up all over the island now
As locals heed the call
From Capetown, to Kuta, London to Sydney
It's mourning for us all...

And where oh where
Do we go now?
Do we send our young men off to war now?
Where oh where do we go now?
Do we follow a big brother to war now?
Or do we find our own way?

This is a song for our young people
Whose lives were lost in flames
For grieving friends and families
Nothing will ever be the same

There are ceremonies in the surf these days
We’re wearing wattle on our clothes
Bali’s not only a destination
Now a final resting place as well

And where oh where
Do we go now?
Do we send our young men off to war now?
Where oh where do we go now?
Do we follow a big brother to war now?
Or do we find our own way? (x3)

This is a song for Australia
A land of sweeping plains
Of rugged mountain ranges
Of droughts and flooding rains
