Narrative ideas have been hugely influential in my work as a therapist and in my understandings of my own life. I have been particularly influenced by Michael White's understandings of power in therapeutic interactions and by his writing on understandings of personal failure. I work often with men, couples in conflict and provide supervision to a range of people. |

Although I live in the Wairarapa, I work (mostly) in Wellington, where I help deliver Weltec's Bachelor of Counselling program. In practice, I work with individuals, couples, families, teams, and organisations experiencing a wide range of problems, as well as student counsellors and offer practice supervision in Wellington and Wairarapa. My main areas of interest are: working with families who are struggling with problems of relating, and persons who are affected by mental health problems. |

I have practiced as a family therapist for 20 years, having trained primarily with David Epston. My work context was as a family therapist and clinical supervisor in social service organisations before going into private practice a year ago. I have a special interest in working with families in the process of change. This includes work with separation, one parent and repartnered (step) families. I wrote "Repartnered families - creating new ways of living together beyond the nuclear family" (Penguin 2002) for parents in these families, as there are few resources in Aotearoa/New Zealand and these do not have an emphasis on re-examining ideas about family. I also run training workshops for people who work with repartnered families around Aotearoa/N.Z, provide supervision for other therapists and social workers, and some training in narrative work. The values that underpin narrative thinking fit with my experience, Quaker background, feminism and my ongoing commitment to social justice. I live in an extended repartnered family. |

We established narrative ideas as a foundation for our practice at The Junction. I have been interested in narrative practice for a number of years. I worked with the Just Therapy team in New Zealand and now work for a workplace wellness provider applying narrative practice ideas to people's experiences in the workplace. We provide employee assistance programmes, counselling, onsite workplace support, trauma response, training, facilitation, conflict resolution, workplace policy development and various other services to workplaces throughout New Zealand. |

The Wellington Narrative Interest Group is a network of narrative practitioners in the Wellington region (including Wairarapa). Participants bring a wide range of experience in narrative practice and interests, and include practitioners working in the field as students, community workers, trainers, educators, counsellors, and mental health practitioners. The group meets monthly and offers a context for practice development and support. The group also maintains a referral network of and for narrative practitioners in the region. |
