I was first introduced to NT while studying for my Master degree at CHC in Mansfield, and met many others who found narrative therapy to be efficacious and groundbreaking – as well as meeting others who share the passion ignited by Michael and David! I trust this connection will allow this journey to continue! |

Narrative ideas have been hugely influential in my work as a therapist and in my understandings of my own life. I have been particularly influenced by Michael White's understandings of power in therapeutic interactions and by his writing on understandings of personal failure. I work often with men, couples in conflict and provide supervision to a range of people. |

Although I live in the Wairarapa, I work (mostly) in Wellington, where I help deliver Weltec's Bachelor of Counselling program. In practice, I work with individuals, couples, families, teams, and organisations experiencing a wide range of problems, as well as student counsellors and offer practice supervision in Wellington and Wairarapa. My main areas of interest are: working with families who are struggling with problems of relating, and persons who are affected by mental health problems. |

I have been interested in the dynamics and power of beliefs for a very long time and have dedicated my life to exploring these things (with a strong influence from Zen). I had been working as a partially trained counsellor for a number of years and when I discovered Narrative Therapy, to complete my training, I felt like I had come home.
I work as a part time high school guidance counsellor and deeply appreciate the privilege of working with young people who often have no one else in their lives who stand alongside them, honouring their own viewpoints, experiences and values.
My private practice is a mix of individuals who bring a large range of issues, relationship counselling and family work. I especially enjoy working with parents who want to create an environment where young people can grow.
There have been many years of social, environmental and economic activism, trying to help co-create alternative ways of living responsibly, fairly and sustainably in this amazing world.
I appreciate being with people who have similar intentions, values and ways of approaching life and I find many amongst the narrative community.

I have practiced as a family therapist for 20 years, having trained primarily with David Epston. My work context was as a family therapist and clinical supervisor in social service organisations before going into private practice a year ago. I have a special interest in working with families in the process of change. This includes work with separation, one parent and repartnered (step) families. I wrote "Repartnered families - creating new ways of living together beyond the nuclear family" (Penguin 2002) for parents in these families, as there are few resources in Aotearoa/New Zealand and these do not have an emphasis on re-examining ideas about family. I also run training workshops for people who work with repartnered families around Aotearoa/N.Z, provide supervision for other therapists and social workers, and some training in narrative work. The values that underpin narrative thinking fit with my experience, Quaker background, feminism and my ongoing commitment to social justice. I live in an extended repartnered family. |

Having a background in philosophy and literature, I was naturally drawn towards narrative ideas. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Narrative Therapy and I am in private practice in Auckland. I particularly enjoy working with young clients, mixing narrative ideas with Interactive Drawing Therapy (amongst others). Having immigrated to New Zealand I am also very interested in working with immigrants. My hopes are to connect with other therapists and exchange ideas around the themes we might have in common. |

I have recently returned to New Zealand after working in the area of child protection in the UK since 1988. During the last 5 years I managed The Junction a service for children and young people with sexually harmful behaviour. We established narrative ideas as a foundation for our practice at The Junction. I am keen to retain these approaches in my new role in the statutory sector in New Zealand working with children in care |

My interests include disability, health and diabetes, which I have been living with for 30 years. I am interested in the language of management and control, discourses relating to being 'good' or 'bad', and in the relationships surrounding people living with diabetes. I am undertaking some social research and group work as well as private practice. I would love to connect with others who share these interests. |

I trained in Narrative Therapy in New Zealand. Narrative ways of thinking are an important part of my practice and my personal life. I work in a small private practice with individuals, couples and families around a range of issues and I am also contracted to deliver a group programme in high schools. My special interests lie in relationship work and around the experience of chronic and terminal illness. I am involved in a voluntary capacity with several community development programmes because I believe that change needs to be supported in the wider context and not just at the individual level.
I manage a newly established online resource group. This is a place for practitioners to celebrate their practice, cheer on and support each other, and share information and experience.
I am interested in connecting with others who share these interests and passions. |

The Wellington Narrative Interest Group is a network of narrative practitioners in the Wellington region (including Wairarapa). Participants bring a wide range of experience in narrative practice and interests, and include practitioners working in the field as students, community workers, trainers, educators, counsellors, and mental health practitioners. The group meets monthly and offers a context for practice development and support. The group also maintains a referral network of and for narrative practitioners in the region. |
